Meet your Land Guardian

When we moved into our very first home last year, as a way to introduce our family to the neighbors I stopped by and dropped off some homemade vanilla with a little note saying who we were and where we now lived.
In addition to meeting my people neighbors, I also made some time to meet with my street's local land guardian. The best way --I have found-- to meet these guardians of the land we call home is actually very similar to the way I met my people-neighbors: say hello, introduce myself and ask if they needed anything.
One evening after we had settled into our new home a bit, I did a meditation with the intention of introducing myself to the land guardian for where we now lived.
The being that came forward was at first only in silhouette, but as the image came into focus I recognized the guardian as an OWL! We had a very pleasant (and polite! I cannot speak for all spirit owls, but the one who watches over the land I live on is exceedingly courteous) conversation where I let him know who I was, that I was grateful to be living here, and asked if he needed anything.
He let me know that sending light into the land was always appreciated and thanked me for the introduction.
Since that day, not only do I periodically check in with him and send Reiki into the land, I also have seen more owls in the last year of my life than in the other 37 years combined.
As a born and bred New Hampshirite, I have seen so much wildlife in my life, but I can recall seeing an owl maybe once or twice before moving into this house.
I now can almost guarantee that one will swoop in front of my headlights if I'm driving at night, and on several occasions there has been a very sleepy owl perched on my back porch that seems to fly off to bed as soon as I wake up and see him there.
In my experience, land guides may show up as animal guides, tree guides, indigenous people...even beings like gnomes or dragons. If you are curious about meeting your local land guardian, please join the Earth Day event on April 22 where we will each connect with our local land guides, send light into mother Earth, and connect to the light grid all over the world.
